We are seeking a strategic, empathetic, and highly experienced communications leader to develop and pilot a critical new capability within our organisation. This role is responsible for building and leading our function to proactively respond to high-profile and complex issues affecting our teams and their communities. You will empower our 70,000 employees to act as informed advocates and storytellers, ensuring we navigate sensitive challenges with care, clarity, and credibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement a scalable issues response and employee advocacy function.
  • Lead communication strategies during high-stakes issues and crises, ensuring consistent, transparent, and supportive messaging.
  • Engage employees across diverse global markets to act as informed and empowered ambassadors of our organisation.
  • Work cross-functionally to manage sensitive community-level and internal stakeholder concerns, including union and activist engagement.
  • Partner with senior leadership to humanise our narrative and connect our mission with real-world impact through compelling storytelling.
  • Provide strategic direction on organisational structures and capabilities required to sustain a long-term, impactful advocacy programme.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in internal communications across large, complex, and culturally diverse employee bases.
  • Strong track record in corporate communications, particularly within a highly visible global organisation.
  • Expertise in crisis communication and issue management, including handling media and public scrutiny.
  • Demonstrated success in engaging with complex stakeholders, including unions, advocacy groups, and public campaign organisations.
  • Exceptional storytelling ability that builds empathy, engagement, and organisational relevance.
  • Strategic leadership experience, including the design and development of new organisational capabilities and teams.
