Band 3G, circa £33,821 per annum, plus On-Call Allowance, plus benefits

Part/Full Time: Full Time - All roles are available for flexible working including job sharing and part-time unless there are legitimate operational/business reasons why this cannot be accommodated

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Communications Data Investigator within the Force Authorities Bureau. In this role, you will prepare and proactively disseminate relevant strategic advice to applicants, analysts, designated persons, senior investigating officers, and forensic experts to provide a professional service and maintain integrity when dealing with sensitive issues. You will provide 24-hour on-call support for emergency situations, including immediate threats to life, time-critical incidents, ongoing operations, and reported crimes, whilst offering specialist advice to colleagues, partners, and agencies to support organisational objectives and ensure legal and policy compliance.

You will also compile and acquire witness statements related to the acquisition of communications data as requested for evidence and attend court when necessary, providing expert testimony in legal processes supporting criminal investigations. On behalf of the Senior Responsible Officer, you will determine the suitability of analytical products for court presentation, engaging expert witnesses as appropriate.

The ideal candidate will have a good standard of education and/or relevant work experience in a similar environment. You should demonstrate high integrity, excellent communication skills at all levels, self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to work independently.

If applying as a permanent staff member, please note this role is offered on a secondment basis. All secondments should be supported by your line manager and department head. If unsupported, a strong business rationale must be provided, quoting the role's reference number.

Note: Shift allowances, on-call, or other job-related allowances from previous roles will not be protected unless attached to the new role for the duration of the secondment.

Benefits include 24 days annual leave (pro-rata for part-time), flexible working, lifestyle discounts, career development opportunities, and a local government pension scheme. For more details, visit the 'Supporting You' page linked at the bottom of the advert.
