Job description

Salary: £43,046 - £49,179. Duration: Not applicable – permanent post.

Job Summary

The Communications Consultant (Digital & Social Media) will play an important role in raising the profile of the organization, communicating its role in a changing landscape, and telling its story to a wide-ranging audience including political, business, and consumer sectors.

The role supports the delivery of effective and engaging content around Zero Waste Scotland’s priorities and activities; supporting digital projects and content strategies across various channels, including research, opportunity analysis, delivery, and analytics to produce world-class content that reaches both core and new audiences.

As part of the digital team, the role collaborates with the wider communications team to support multichannel communication plans, combining owned, earned, paid, and shared media.

  • Effective communication and influencing skills to advise stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Excellent ICT skills.
  • Basic understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and other digital technologies.
  • Good understanding of content value and audience engagement potential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a broader team, recognizing the importance of integrated communications.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined, capable of working autonomously, meeting deadlines, and managing priorities.

What you'll be doing;

The key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Communications Lead (Digital & Social Media) and team in delivering digital and social media plans.
  • Providing creative, editorial, and operational support for digital communication projects and channels, including corporate publications, articles, social media engagement, Q&As, and multimedia materials.
  • Supporting social media campaigns for various products and services.
  • Developing and delivering digital communication plans to promote publications, events, and other offerings to partners and customers.
  • Contributing to measurement, evaluation, and impact analysis of digital activities.
  • Providing specialist advice for multimedia materials and publications.
  • Undertaking evaluation projects and sharing results.
  • Identifying opportunities through social listening and digital analysis tools, planning, and developing content opportunities in collaboration with teams.
  • Supporting wider communications efforts to build reputation and ensure effective stakeholder communication, contributing to the objectives of the Finance & Corporate Services Directorate.

Location: This role is flexible, with the possibility of home working. Occasional travel within Scotland may be required, including attendance at our Stirling office or client locations in the Central Belt. Applicants should reside within Scotland or North of England for ease of travel.
