Overview

Location: Milton Keynes

Salary: £22,912.50 pa
Contract: 12-13 months FTC Start dates are usually in June/July
Hybrid working: We operate a hybrid policy where undergraduates work in the office 3 days per week. There may be times when you will need to be in more frequently depending on the needs of the business.

To apply for our undergraduate placement scheme, you must be studying for an undergraduate degree that requires a placement year. Master’s students are not eligible for this placement. Please consider before applying if you live more than 60 minutes away from post code MK15 8HG, that you would need to relocate to either Milton Keynes or be a commutable distance (within 60 minutes).

Role

As the Communications and PR Undergraduate, your main purpose is to support the Internal Communications team in the planning, creation and distribution of content and activity across the business. This content is designed to inform, engage and motivate colleagues at VWFS. You will support us to drive our internal communications and employee engagement, which will encourage our colleagues to give their best each day. You’ll be involved in a broad range of strategic initiatives from culture change and diversity and inclusion to charity and sustainability.

What will you be doing?
  • You will take on a lot of responsibility for our intranet including the planning and uploading of content and creating the weekly newsletter
  • You will maintain our annual communications plan, keeping the team focused, delivering at pace and, on time
  • Support in writing and distributing internal communications and work on employee engagement campaigns
  • Provide creative and logistical support for all communications and engagement activities to the wider business
  • Support with logistics and preparations for internal events and stakeholder meetings including creating slides and materials
  • Be involved with creating content such as filming colleagues, editing videos and creating graphics
  • Liaising with key stakeholders in the business to help share updates with our colleagues
What are we looking for?
  • Studying a degree in Communications, Marketing, Media or Business-related field
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet short deadlines
  • A good communicator with the ability to form credible relationships across all levels of the business and manage key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent written communication and proof-reading skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, emphasis on quality and consistency
  • Have a creative flair, with media skills such as video creation and editing
  • Highly PC literate, especially in the use of MS Office

What Our Recruitment Process Looks Like
  • Apply and upload your CV, covering letter and answer a few application questions.
  • You’ll be invited to complete a Situational Judgement Test. This is a short multiple-choice question set to help us understand how you may approach situations.
  • If you pass this stage, you will be invited to complete an online video interview where you will have the opportunity to tell us more about yourself.
  • If successful, your last step in the journey is to attend an in-person Assessment Centre at our Milton Keynes office. You’ll also meet some of our managers and our current undergraduates to find out more about a placement year with us.

Please note: Our undergraduate placement roles do not meet the UKVI’s criteria for the skilled worker sponsorship route, therefore we are unable to accept candidates requiring sponsorship for this role.

Our current car schemes are under review following changes in legislation from HMRC and so whilst we don’t have full details of our car scheme to share with you now, we will let you know what this looks like as soon as we are able.
