As our Communications and Media Officer, you’ll bring creativity, precision and people skills to the heart of our work- helping to amplify the voice of nursing in Wales.

In this dynamic role, no two days will be the same Whether you’re sourcing engaging content for our member communications, crafting compelling press releases, or helping RCN staff and members prepare for media interviews, you’ll be part of a small, passionate team making a big impact.

You’ll be a key contact for journalists, RCN members and staff, ensuring enquiries are handled with professionalism and care. Working alongside the Communications and Media Manager, you’ll also help shape media strategies that support high profile campaigns and promote the work of our members across Wales.

This is a brilliant opportunity to grow your communications skills, build strong relationships, and help raise the profile of nursing at a national level.

To join us as a Communications Officer, you’ll need to be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, with a strong awareness of digital communications, including social media. You should have excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce accurate and engaging content—from briefs and reports to social media posts—right through to final edit. A sharp eye for detail and the ability to proofread with precision are essential. You’ll also need solid IT skills, including confidence in using Microsoft Teams, Word, and spreadsheets, along with a proactive, flexible approach and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

*We offer a competitive pay structure with annual pay progression until you reach the top of the salary scale. We normally offer new employees the first point of the salary range, although you may be able to negotiate a higher starting salary depending on your skills, experience and current salary.

Our hybrid working model allows for up to 60% of your working time to be carried out from home. At least 40% of your working time will be spent working in person.
