Join a creative and supportive team as a Communications and Marketing Officer at Cheshire West and Chester. You will deliver impactful campaigns for Children’s Services, engaging diverse audiences through various channels. This role requires creativity, content production skills, and a passion for public service.
To provide professional communication and marketing support to senior managers and officers that contributes towards the delivery of the Council’s corporate plan priorities.
Working across a directorate or service, own and deliver all aspects of audience-led communication activity and priority campaigns including press, marketing, digital, internal communication, photography and copywriting.
To protect and enhance the Council’s reputation through effective two-way communication with residents, business, partners and stakeholders.
About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a creative and supportive team making a real difference to children and families across the borough. As a Communications and Marketing Officer, you’ll help deliver engaging campaigns for Children’s Services – covering areas such as fostering, adoption, SEND and safeguarding. You’ll produce content for a range of audiences and channels, from press and social media to staff briefings and publications.
You’ll be involved in every part of the process – planning, content creation, media handling, evaluation, and stakeholder engagement – helping us to communicate with clarity and impact.
About you
You’ll bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a keen eye for detail to the role. With experience in a communications, marketing, or media environment, you’ll be confident producing content that resonates with a variety of audiences. You’ll be organised, flexible and comfortable working on several projects at once. Knowledge of local government or children’s services is helpful, but not essential – we’re looking for someone with a positive attitude and a genuine interest in public service.
