Salary: Scale SCP: 13 - 17 (starting at £28,163 pa pro-rata) Plus Generous Local Government Average Salary Pension Scheme
Part time – 16 hours per week - 1 year fixed term contract (maternity cover)

The Role
The Town Council is seeking an experienced communications and marketing specialist to lead its internal and external communications, driving engagement and enhancing public awareness of the council's work and Lewes town. With a broad remit, no two days are alike. You'll oversee their website, social media and public relations while advising other teams on communications strategy. You might be supporting major council initiatives and public consultations one day, and the next, working on council-led public events such as heritage celebrations and writing press statements on key service updates. Working with the Town Clerk, council officers and external partners, you will drive messaging that effective across multiple platforms.
They are looking for a proactive and strategic communicator with strong writing, marketing, and digital expertise. You should have experience delivering impactful campaigns, managing press relations, and engaging diverse audiences across various channels. Organisational skills, creativity, and a keen eye for details will be essential in ensuring the council's messaging is clear, accessible and effective.
