Good Growth is responsible for delivering and implementing the Mayor’s environment, transport and economic strategies and for the effective implementation of the London Plan. The Directorate also handles regeneration (excluding housing-led projects), enterprise, growth, capital projects, and design work.

About The Team
The role is based within the Culture, Creative Industries and 24 Hour London Unit at the GLA. The Unit delivers the Mayor’s Culture Strategy for London, aiming to provide Londoners with access to culture on their doorsteps. We support arts and creative industries to grow and be accessible to all, making London the top destination for 24-hour culture and entertainment. Projects include the Creative Economy Growth programme, Creative Enterprise Zones, the East Bank culture and education quarter, Diversity in the Public Realm initiatives, the Fourth Plinth contemporary art series, and the London Borough of Culture.

About The Role
As the Communications and Engagement Officer, you will coordinate digital communications and stakeholder engagement for the GLA’s Culture and Creative Industries Unit. Your responsibilities include producing and delivering e-newsletters and social media content to extend the reach of the Unit’s work across the GLA and to external stakeholders. You will also support project planning and management to aid the delivery of the unit’s programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team dedicated to strengthening London’s cultural infrastructure, supporting creative professionals and businesses, and promoting cultural opportunities across the city.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage social media content calendars and outputs for London Culture accounts on BlueSky and X.
  • Provide copy, images, and support for social media content for the Deputy Mayor for Culture and Creative Industries, liaising with Digital Communications colleagues on content promotion.
  • Plan, draft, and produce monthly e-newsletters for Culture, Diversity in the Public Realm, and London Borough of Culture, collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Support marketing and communications efforts, including writing blogs, updating webpages, and coordinating event invitations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders for effective communication and projects.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Experience in digital communications, including content creation for e-newsletters and social media.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to craft engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating activities for positive outcomes.
  • Experience in fast-paced communications environments.
  • Experience in the culture and creative industries sector.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, understanding its relevance to this role.
