Job Title: Communications Support Worker (BSL)

Do you have a passion for supporting deaf children and young people? We are looking for a dedicated Communications Support Worker with strong British Sign Language (BSL) skills to join a welcoming and inclusive Special School in Haringey. This is a rewarding opportunity to use your signing skills to help pupils across both primary and secondary access learning and thrive in school life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) to provide high-quality signing and communication support during lessons and activities.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support, focusing on academic progress as well as social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and multi-agency professionals to adapt resources and strategies for deaf students.
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in pupils who are deaf or have hearing impairments.
  • Promote full inclusion within the classroom and wider school community.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
Requirements:
  • BSL qualification (minimum Level 1, ideally Level 2 or above).
  • Previous experience supporting deaf pupils or young people with hearing impairments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
