About the role

Traffic Wales is the Welsh Government’s traffic information service for the Welsh Strategic Road Network.

We’re looking for a creative and strategic Communications Manager to lead the Traffic Wales communications team and help shape how the public engages with Wales’ strategic road network.

This is a key leadership role requiring a proactive, forward-thinking communicator who can embed communications at the heart of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead a national communications strategy that enhances public trust, strengthens stakeholder engagement, and raises the profile of Traffic Wales.
  • Oversee a team of Communications experts, managing staff development and service coverage.
  • Deliver clear, bilingual content across social media, digital channels, and public campaigns.
  • Support major infrastructure projects and emergency responses with timely, high-impact communications.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with key partners, including the Trunk Road Agents and Welsh Government.
