Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement professional within Baxi. Based in Preston, you will be part of our UK Procurement team, gaining insight into the full procurement management process within a world-class manufacturing facility. You will influence business results through supporting and leading cross-functional projects and will collaborate with a global community of Buyers to share best practices.

The Indirects Buyer will bring sourcing expertise to generate savings and efficiencies across various Indirect categories within the UK.

You will help co-create buying strategies, manage stakeholder relationships, procure goods and services, oversee supplier management, and handle operational activities.

This role involves managing governance policies related to procurement and using tools like SourceDogg, M3, and EcoVadis. Advanced skills in sourcing, supplier relationship management, influencing, and compliance are essential.

You will develop core procurement skills such as negotiation, risk mitigation, and contract management. Opportunities to understand complex factory environments and interconnected functions will be provided, along with support to achieve the CIPS qualification if not already obtained.

A curious mindset is vital for identifying improvements in sourcing and supply. A track record of delivering value is highly desirable. You should be proficient with IT systems, numbers, and have a good understanding of financial basics and supply chains.

Who will you be working with?

The Indirect Buyer is responsible for executing purchasing processes efficiently, driving strategic initiatives, evaluating suppliers, managing relationships, and supporting contract processes.

Key Accountabilities and Deliverables

  • Leading procurement activities to achieve cost savings.
  • Participating in tendering activities, including e-Auctions.
  • Negotiating with suppliers.
  • Managing supplier selection, onboarding, and contracts.
  • Supporting stakeholders locally and globally.
  • Maintaining procurement policies and systems.
  • Managing categories such as warehouse operations, logistics, engineering (MRO/spare parts), PPE, and workwear.

Education and Professional Experience

  • Level 4 CIPS qualification or working towards it.
  • Experience managing a broad supplier base.
  • Relevant industry experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Proactive, motivated, and self-starting.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and see tasks through.
  • Team-oriented with cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze and present data effectively.
