Job summary

The British Medical Association (BMA) Cymru Wales is seeking a Committee Executive Officer to support a busy practice committee. The successful candidate will ensure efficient functioning, liaise with committee members, and help deliver the workplan in a fast-paced environment.

This fixed-term, part-time role (4 days/week) reports to the Senior Policy Executive and includes drafting briefings, managing meetings, and coordinating actions.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Committee Executive Officer to join our BMA Cymru Wales team who will have responsibility for the effective functioning the a busy branch of practice committee.

Reporting to the Senior Policy Executive for secondary care, the successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the effective functioning of the committee and contributing to the delivery of the committee’s workplan. The role requires the provision of a high quality and efficient service to elected committee members and committee officers in particular.

This role is a fixed term contract until January 2027 and is part time (4 days per week).

To be successful as a Committee Executive Officer you'll have:

  • Organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload.
  • Sound written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, and an eye for detail (essential)
  • Experience organising senior level meetings or events, setting agendas, capturing minutes and following up agreed action points
  • Experience of drafting formal letters or briefings;
  • Managing and prioritising work appropriately and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience of working with committees, or in a membership-based organisation, would be an advantage
  • Experience of working as part of a team.
