One of my local government clients, the London Borough of Haringey, is currently recruiting for an experienced Commissioning Project Manager to join their Children s Services Directorate on a temporary contract until October 2025, with potential extension based on performance and budget availability.
This role is focused on leading key transformation work aligned with the Safety Valve Programme, targeting improved outcomes for both Pre-16 and Post-16 learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
You will play a central role in designing and delivering sustainable commissioning strategies that enhance service delivery, improve value for money, and reduce reliance on high-cost placements.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver strategic commissioning projects for children and young people with SEND.
Drive improvements through evidence-based planning, stakeholder engagement, and collaborative working.
Implement frameworks and agreements to enhance quality, consistency, and cost-effectiveness.
Develop and contribute to local and regional commissioning arrangements aligned with preparation for adulthood and sufficiency strategies.
Monitor and evaluate commissioned services to ensure performance meets agreed outcomes.
Essential Requirements
Proven experience in commissioning or project management within a local authority, ideally in Children s Services or SEND.
Strong understanding of commissioning education placements, therapies, and transition services.
Experience managing provider contracts, frameworks, and performance tools.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven environment
