Job description

Job title: Commissioning Project Leader - Mechanical (Ships)

What you'll be doing:

  1. Acting as Ships mechanical subject matter expert for test and commissioning
  2. Assisting in creating the test and commissioning plan
  3. Providing SQEP input into design decisions
  4. Assisting in identifying and developing the use of toolsets and software
  5. Leading by example in all aspects of safety and process compliance
  6. Responsible for the development and leadership of a team of Mechanical Engineers
  7. Review, authorise and evaluate test documentation to enable safe delivery of a testing / commissioning programme and support contractual acceptance
  8. Deputise for the Commissioning Manager in their absence and act as temporary lead, covering all section meetings
  9. Liaise with multiple stakeholders to ensure safe control of work, collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders including operations and engineering
  10. Task allocation, delegation and distribution of daily tasks

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  1. Degree / HNC / HND in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  2. Understanding of ships systems and other associated systems and their testing and commissioning
  3. Understanding of overall submarine systems and their operation
  4. Experience leading a team
  5. Competent with IT systems and software (Microsoft products)
  6. Working knowledge of the Engineering Lifecycle

Desirable:

  1. Experience with SAP and Teamcenter
  2. Maritime background would be preferable
  3. Specialist engineering knowledge and experience in subject area
  4. Knowledge and experience of Submarine Ship Systems and equipment - Tanks, Refrigeration, HVAC, Hydraulics, High Pressure Air, Trim & Ballast Systems, etc.

The Test and Commissioning team:

As the Commissioning Project Leader - Mechanical (Ships), you will manage a test section and all associated activities, which is delivering as part of a wider Test & Commissioning (T&C) programme or project consisting of a number of major engineering systems, commissioning disciplines, platform assemblies, equipment or software products.

This role will provide the opportunity to be involved in the build and commissioning stages of submarine development and the implementation and realisation of test and commissioning strategy and provide input to support the delivery phases. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
