We have an exciting opportunity available as a Commissioning Officer (Self-directed support)!

This is a full-time, 24-month fixed term contract with a salary range of £36,433 - £40,401 per annum. Part-time, job shares will also be considered, please include your desired hours within the supporting statement.

This an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our Adult Services Commissioning Team.

The Role:

Working within our Commissioning Team you will develop the infrastructure and commissioning for a range of services to enable people to manage their care and support and to employ their own staff. This will include commissioning, embedding and monitoring a pre-paid cards provider, services to support people to employ staff, payroll and insurance services.

Providing comprehensive information, advice, and support to people via social care practitioners regarding all aspects of direct payments, including their responsibilities and financial obligations.

Reviewing and developing information (policies, procedures, information guides and forms) for staff and for people supported by Adult Social Care.

You will be responsible for:

Establishing and leading the commissioning and support of self-directed support service for people supported by Adult Social Care.

Developing and delivering a rolling training package for social care practitioners to increase the skills and knowledge of staff to promote the use of self-directed support including direct payments. Supporting the promotion and development of the services.

Being the first point of contact for practitioners, providing expert advice, support and guidance on self-directed support, direct payments and complex queries.

What we are looking for:

  • An individual who has knowledge and experience of direct payment services, Adult Social Care functions, including charging regimes and personal budgets.
  • Ability to develop and deliver training and support to social work practitioners.
  • Outstanding organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent IT skills with a good working knowledge using MS Office, Word, Excel (Advanced) and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload.
  • A team player, highly organised, motivated, excellent communication and presentation skills.
