We have an exciting Commissioning lead opportunity to join our Taw Valley Creamery. This is especially exciting as the creamery is undergoing a major transformation, thanks to a £180 million investment. This role is responsible for developing and reviewing commissioning plans to ensure project objectives are met.

In this role you will conduct tests to verify compliance with specifications, overseeing system integration, and resolving any issues during commissioning. This role is part of the Integration team and working closely with the CAPEX project managers and site, preparing detailed documentation, ensures safety compliance, and collaborates with project teams. They provide training for operations personnel, conduct Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), performance Qualification (PQ) tests, and identify process improvement opportunities. Additionally, the engineer attends Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for key equipment to ensure quality standards are achieved.

  • Develops and reviews commissioning and handover plans, schedules, and procedures to ensure project objectives are met in cooperation with CAPEX project managers and suppliers.
  • Conducts pre-commissioning and commissioning tests of equipment and systems to verify compliance with design specifications and operational requirements.
  • Oversee the integration of various systems and components to ensure seamless operation and functionality.
  • Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves any issues or malfunctions that arise during the commissioning phase and Identifies opportunities for process optimization and improvements based on commissioning experiences and feedback.
  • Conducts IQ, OQ, PQ performance verification tests to ensure systems and equipment operate according to specified criteria and performance targets.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for key equipment

What you’ll need in order to be successful in the role

  • Extensive relevant work experience (10+ years) combined with technical education or combination of advanced theoretical knowledge (University Degree) and some years of relevant practical experience (3-5 years).
  • Project Management experience from within a complex fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Understands and is trained on some key pillars as IIM, AM, and PM.
  • Technical Expertise: Possesses strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices, particularly in commissioning and system integration.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrates effective troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently.

Arla Taw Valley Creamery

  • Our Taw Valley Creamery was established in 1974 and it has been a significant site for cheese production in the UK, and it has undergone various developments and expansions over the years to improve its capacity and capabilities in cheese making.
  • We process approximately 1.2 million litres of milk daily; producing over 100t of award winning cheeses, such as BOB, Castello Tickler, alongside butter and whey powder
  • Our Taw Valley site is soon to receive around £180 Million investment to create a new mozzarella production facility, the 2nd largest single investment in Arla Foods UK.
