Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services is seeking an ambitious Commissioning Engineer to join our UK-wide field team, developing security and access control systems for major utility clients. The role is field-based with travel across the UK.

You will work with installation and commissioning teams, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery while maintaining strong client relations. Solid knowledge of 17th/18th Edition and gas safety procedures is essential, along with excellent communication in

• 17th/18th Edition Certification.
• CSCS Card required.
• National Grid Competent Person - Substation is preferred.
• EUSR Safety Health and Environmental Awareness - Gas.
• Safe Control of Operations 1 & 2 - Gas.
• Safe Control of Operations 91 – Gas.
• Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW).
• Must have strong written and verbal English.

Responsibilities

• Commission and test security and access control systems on site.
• Travel across the UK to client sites for commissioning.
• Liaise with National Grid and utility clients.
• Ensure safety, environmental and quality standards on site.

• Must have good communication skills in both verbal and the use of written English language.
• Must be computer literate in basic IT skills.
• Must have good observational skills especially for Health, Safety and Quality issues.
• Must be able to recognise, manage and shift priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem solving capabilities.
• Must be focused on all safety, environmental and quality issues on the construction site.
• Must be able to interface professionally with all levels of personnel.
• Must be focused on achieving the desired aims and objectives in a safe manner.
• Must be professional in approach and manner at all times.
• Flexible during periods of change.
• Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients and other departments.
• Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is essential
