Job summary

Vantage Consulting has a Commissioning Engineer position in the UK field-based role. You will mentor technicians, perform and document pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks, and ensure a fully operational system is handed over to the customer.

You must ensure site health and safety, file all safety documentation, and manage schedules and handover witnessing. Driving license and knowledge of protection relays are essential.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent in Engineering.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Computer literate with MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Full UK Driving license.
• Has good working knowledge of protection relays and functions.
• Can perform protection relay tests and configurations.
• Installation tests on distribution transformers.
• Assist Senior Commissioning Engineers on major projects.

Responsibilities

• Mentor up and coming Test & Commissioning technicians.

• Ensure all Health and safety documentation is filed, maintained and updated on site.
• Update commissioning schedules, handover and witnessing documents.
• Carry out factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing.
• Ensure sites are cleared of equipment before handover/completion.
• Undertake other duties as requested by senior staff.

Key Accountabilities

• Mentor up and coming Test & Commissioning technicians.
• Carry out and document all tasks associated with the pre-commissioning / commissioning of the equipment.
• Be responsible in handing over a fully operational system for acceptance by the customer.
• Ensure health and safety procedures and standards are followed on site.
• Ensure all Health and safety documentation is filed, maintained and updated on site.
• Ensure commissioning schedules, handover and witnessing documents are updated, maintained, completed and filed / issued to project manager prior to project completion.
• Carry out factory acceptance testing when required, Site acceptance testing and customer witnessing.
• Ensure sites are cleared of equipment and materials / products prior to handover / completion.
• To undertake any other duties as requested by senior staff within the company

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent in Engineering.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal and ability to communicate effectively.
• Computer literate with experience of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Full UK Driving license.
• Has good working knowledge of basic protection relays and functions.
• Can perform tests such as Contact resistance (Ductor), Insulation resistance, AC dielectric with-stand tests, CT/VT primary and polarity checks, relay secondary injection, scheme checks and CT analysis.
• Capable of working with protection relays and making minor changes to settings and configs as and when required.
• Installation tests on distribution Transformers.
• Assist Senior Commissioning Engineers on major projects.
