Job description

Data Centres Commissioning Engineer

Salary: £55,000

This role will be a static position in Harlesden; however, you will be required to go to other sites as well as international travel, including 4 months away at the end of the year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversee the commissioning process across various data centre sites, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of HVAC systems.
  2. Assist with equipment delivery, positioning, installation, and final handover to the client, ensuring compliance with all project specifications.
  3. Responsible for conducting commissioning activities per the client's established scripts and additional equipment as required, while ensuring proper validation and performance testing of HVAC and electrical systems.
  4. Coordinate with the local Project Manager to ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols, in line with GC and client requirements.
  5. Collaborate with senior engineers and commissioning teams to ensure that the commissioning program is delivered within the agreed timeframes and budgets.
  6. Proactively identify, document, and communicate any risks related to resources, finances, schedules, or other project elements to the FläktGroup Program Manager.
  7. Maintain accurate site documentation, including RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), HSE reports, commissioning logs, test reports, schedules, and other relevant documents during the project lifecycle.
  8. Coordinate with the client's document control team to ensure all project documentation is updated on the client's document control platform in a timely manner.
  9. Supervise internal or external cleaning teams during a deep clean of equipment and ensure all works are completed to the satisfaction of the GC and/or CxA (Commissioning Agent).

REQUIREMENTS
Education/Qualifications:
  1. HVAC accredited practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Relevant mechanical HVAC qualifications and/or electrical certifications are highly desirable.
  3. F-Gas qualification is highly desirable.
  4. Competence in electrical safety on site, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and other related electrical safety standards.

Experience:
  1. At least 3 years experience in commissioning HVAC and electrical systems within construction and working on critical infrastructure environments.
  2. Data centre experience is highly desirable.
  3. Familiarity with commissioning stages for data centres, including ASHRAE L1-L5.
  4. Previous experience in commissioning or construction roles in mechanical, electrical, or controls systems is highly beneficial.

Certifications:
  1. Current and valid CSCS card or equivalent.
  2. SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) or SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification is a plus.
  3. Specific Electrical or Mechanical Certificates (such as 17th Edition Wiring Regulations) are advantageous.
