You'll be working on client sites, mainly in London, with some nationwide travel and occasional overnight stays. You'll be hands-on with planned commissioning and emergency call-outs, so flexibility is a must. A good understanding of fan motors, inverters, and detection systems is essential. You should also be confident working solo and managing deadlines safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Commission and certify Fire Alarm and AOV (Automatic Opening Vent) systems
- Take part in the on-call rota (currently one week in every eight)
- Develop and document accurate cause and effect strategies
- Program and test life safety systems
- Read and work from technical drawings and site mark-ups
- Liaise with Design, Project Management, and Maintenance teams
- Complete ongoing project admin: timesheets, vehicle checks, expenses, etc
- Finalise and sign off project certification
Requirements
- Fire alarm commissioning experience to BS 5839 standard
- Experience with advanced systems (preferred but not essential)
- Computer literate and comfortable using digital tools
- Previous on-site installation/commissioning experience
- Able to juggle multiple disciplines and make on-the-spot decisions
- Confident in lone working scenarios
- Full UK driving licence required
