A leading company in advanced manufacturing is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to oversee installation and commissioning activities for a new facility. This role involves planning, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring machinery safety and performance through effective testing procedures. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in commissioning and a degree or equivalent experience.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Commissioning Engineer (or Advanced Manufacturing Engineer) to join our team on a contract basis. The role will be to plan and oversee all installation and commissioning activities for a new manufacturing facility.
The facility is currently at the Design Development stage and the Commissioning Engineer, will be instrumental in creating and implementing the commissioning plan and procedures that ensure safe and efficient installation, commissioning and transition to operations.
Main Responsibilities:
Creating a plan for installation and commissioning
Scheduling and coordinating commissioning visits with equipment suppliers
Reviewing the technical documentation from suppliers to understand their functions and purpose
Working with Manufacturing & Quality Engineers to create and propose test procedures, that ensure that machinery safety and performance targets are met
Supervising and carrying out appropriate testing and commissioning of equipment to be installed in the new facility (FAT & SAT)
Support the data collection process to evidence that equipment meets set targets and regulation requirements
Write procedures to ensure safe working conditions for everyone involved with installation, testing and assessment of equipment.
Coach and mentor colleagues, where appropriate, to ensure safe and high-quality factory and site acceptance testing
Travelling to supplier sites as required (which may be in Europe)
Person Specification
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Ability to communicate, both verbally and in written form, with colleagues of varying skills and seniority
Substantial experience in planning, supporting and overseeing installation and commissioning activities
Designing appropriate tests for a variety of manufacturing equipment (hot processes, material removal processes and inspection processes)
Experienced in leading commissioning activities with a team of multi-skilled engineers
Creating guidance documents/procedures to support commissioning activities
Experience of writing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience
Degree educated or equivalent experience
Ability to advise equipment suppliers in resolution of issues raised at FAT/SAT
Problem solving and task prioritisation skills
Working knowledge of PUWER, LOLER and Machinery Directive
