Job summary

A leading provider of security and life safety solutions is seeking a Commissioning Engineer. The role focuses on commissioning fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems, ensuring compliance with British Standards. The successful candidate will be involved in testing, documentation, client interactions, and supporting installations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in commissioning Fire Alarm and Security systems essential.
  • Familiarity with British Standards essential.
  • Full UK driving licence essential.

  • Commission newly installed Fire Detection, Fire Alarm, Intruder Alarm, CCTV, and Access Control systems.
  • Complete testing, inspection and verification of system functionality.
  • Provide client demonstrations and system handovers.

About The Company & Role

This established and trusted provider of tailored security and life safety solutions operates across the Fire and Security sector, delivering reliable protection systems to a wide range of clients. With a strong technical team and a focus on compliance and customer satisfaction, the company prides itself on the quality of its installations and ongoing service. This role sits within the engineering team and focuses specifically on commissioning fire alarm, intruder alarm, CCTV, and access control systems. The successful candidate will ensure new systems are installed to specification, fully functional, and handed over in accordance with British Standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilites

  • Commission newly installed Fire Detection, Fire Alarm, Intruder Alarm, CCTV, and Access Control systems
  • Complete testing/inspection/verification of system functionality and performance
  • Produce accurate commissioning documentation and ensure compliance with all relevant standards
  • Provide client demonstrations and system handovers
  • Troubleshoot and rectify any issues found during final testing phases
  • Collaborate with installers and project managers to ensure smooth handover
  • Participate in on-call rota for out-of-hours emergencies (rota to be confirmed)
  • Travel to client sites across Essex and surrounding counties


Skills & Experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of life safety and electronic security systems essential
  • Proven experience in commissioning Fire Alarm and Security systems essential
  • Familiarity with British Standards essential
  • Experience with integrated systems and commissioning software tools preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system schematics essential
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills essential
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills essential
  • Full UK driving licence essential

Hours Of Work

  • Monday Friday: 8am 5pm (40 hours per week)
  • Participation in on-call rota (rota to be confirmed)
