Opportunity for a Commissioning Consultant (Nuclear Safety) working with Mactech on the Hinkley Point C Project,
Salary, Hours & Location:
Site-based at Hinkley Point C, Somerset
£450 PAYE to £605 UMBRELLA per day
Long Term, Full time
Main Duties:
Develop safety case and operational documentation for commissioning activities
Review strategy documents for accuracy and achievability
Contribute to cross-functional benchmarking exercises
Support development of nuclear safety related training
Provide advice on emergency scheme roles and normal operation
Support development of Operational and Hazard technical specifications
Oversee nuclear safety case implementation as key stakeholder
Ensure commissioning process meets regulatory requirements
Incorporate international best practices in safety and technical excellence
Build collaborative relationships with designers, contractors and project teams
Ensure lessons from each phase are incorporated into future processes
Support preparations for operational phase
Report to Pre-Operations Safety Case Lead
Experience Required:
Degree (or equivalent) in relevant engineering discipline
Previous experience in safety and quality-focused environments
Strong problem-solving and innovation skills
Ability to perform effectively under pressure
Excellent collaboration and networking abilities
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated resilience and growth mindset
Experience implementing new processes
Ability to convey complex information effectively
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in commissioning, maintenance or operations of complex systems
Track record of project delivery in technical roles
Nuclear industry experience
Knowledge of nuclear site licence requirements
Experience with operational technical specifications
Background in reactor physics or nuclear safety
