Equans Data Centers are seeking to appoint two Commissioning Apprentices to be based on our project site in West Drayton.

What you will deliver?

The Commissioning Apprentices will work alongside Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to gain hands-on experience and site-based learning at a Data Center project. The successful candidates will attend college to study the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician L3 apprenticeship, focusing on plant commissioning, isolation and testing, plant preparation, start-up and shut down, monitoring and controlling plant, and dealing with critical operational problems. You will learn the 5 steps of data center commissioning and gain knowledge of building services systems.

Working with an experienced team, your key tasks will include:

  • Attending workshops and participating in learning opportunities.
  • Assisting within the commissioning department and learning about other aspects of the company.
  • Assisting Engineers in commissioning and testing systems according to project specifications.
  • Completing tests, presentations, and evaluations.
  • Collaborating with project teams to resolve issues during commissioning.
  • Working on-site and in the project office, with travel to other projects as needed.
  • Receiving Quality Assurance and Quality Control training.
  • Performing installation inspections, reviewing test results, and collating test documents.
  • Taking ownership and responsibility for tasks.
  • Adhering to health and safety requirements at all times.

The Maintenance and Operations Electrical Technician Level 3 apprenticeship will last 36-42 months.

Who are we looking for?

  • 3 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including Mathematics, English, and Science, or relevant experience
  • A driving license and transport are preferred, or candidates on the way to obtaining their license.
