Job summary

El Pastor Ltd in Bermondsey, London, is seeking a Commis Chef to join the Harts Group Tortilleria kitchen team. You will work across hot and cold sections, take guest orders, and prepare takeaway and delivery orders for taco lovers at the restaurant or via Deliveroo.

At El Pastor Tortilleria, we craft fresh tortillas daily and collaborate with suppliers in Mexico. We offer meaningful rewards and opportunities to grow within a passionate hospitality group.

Qualifications

• One year experience in a high-volume restaurant or production kitchen.
• Experience across hot and cold sections with good prep skills.
• Experience with takeaway or delivery orders is desirable.
• Excellent knowledge of ingredients, allergens and food safety standards.
• Positive and kind attitude in the kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Take orders from guests and communicate with the kitchen.
• Prepare takeaway and Deliveroo orders.
• Work across hot and cold sections during service.
• Support kitchen operations to maintain high standards.

We are looking for a great Commis Chef to join Harts Group as part of our El Pastor Tortilleria kitchen team in Bermondsey, London

You’ll be part of a small team in the Tortilleria, working across both hot and cold sections and taking orders directly from guests. Alongside restaurant service, you’ll prepare takeaway and Deliveroo orders, helping us serve some of the best tacos in London, whether they’re enjoyed at the restaurant or delivered to our guests

El Pastor is a small group of Mexican taquerias in London, inspired by the decade the founders spent in Mexico City, running a cult nightclub and searching for the city’s best taco al pastor.
We pour our hearts into top quality authentic produce, making fresh tortillas daily using heritage corn and working directly with suppliers and cooperative farmers in Mexico. We are proud to have been awarded a Star by the Sustainable Restaurant Association.

The Commis Chef Role

• One year experience of a high-volume Restaurant or Production kitchen
• Experience working across hot and cold sections, with good preparation skills
• Experience with filleting and butchery is desirable
• Comfortable working in a guest-facing kitchen, taking orders and communicating with guests
• Experience with takeaway or delivery orders is desirable, with an understanding of the importance of maintaining the same high standards for food going out for delivery
• Excellent knowledge of ingredients, allergens and adherence to all Food Safety and hygiene standards
• Positive and kind attitude in the kitchen
• Good command of English language
• Strong team ethic, always showing respect for your colleagues
