Job summary

Dovetail & Slate is seeking a hands-on Kitchen Assistant to join a busy professional kitchen in Nantwich. You will assist with preparation, cooking and presentation of high-quality food while learning from experienced chefs in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll maintain high standards of hygiene and organisation, support stock rotation, and help with setup and breakdown of kitchen stations. Previous kitchen experience and a current food hygiene certificate are expected.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a professional kitchen environment.
• Understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
• Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.

Job description

You'll join a busy professional kitchen, supporting the wider catering team in the preparation, cooking and presentation of high-quality food. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a genuine interest in food and a willingness to learn, working alongside experienced chefs to develop your skills in a fast-paced environment.

You'll be expected to maintain high standards of hygiene, safety and organisation at all times, taking pride in your section and contributing to the smooth running of service.

Your responsibilities will include:

What We're Looking For

Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment

A good understanding of food hygiene and safety practices

Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff

Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure

A relevant catering or culinary qualification

A current food hygiene certificate
