Job summary

Forest Green Rovers Football Club in Nailsworth is seeking a dedicated Commis Chef to join our Catering Team. You will support the Head Chef in delivering FGR Food across the stadium, concourse, Fan Zone and events, while keeping the kitchen clean and well organised.

We welcome both experienced catering professionals and cooking enthusiasts aiming to develop skills. A full driving license is required, and you should be available for evenings, weekends and bank holidays when matchdays occur.

Qualifications

• Previous catering/restaurant experience or a catering qualification.
• A full driving license is required.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene is desirable.
• Available to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Good communication and team work within a small catering team.
• Ability to work on initiative and be creative.
• Support for sustainability, equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Culinary qualification is a plus but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support Head Chef and team to deliver FGR Food across stadium platforms.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all kitchen areas.
• Assist with meal preparation, chopping vegetables and assembling dishes.
• Provide general support to Catering Team during busy periods.
• Work on matchdays mainly in the hospitality kitchen with scope to learn other areas.

Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join the Forest Green Rovers Catering Team.

This position is perfect for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills in a fast-paced setting, whether in catering, restaurants or other sectors. Whether you are a seasoned catering professional or a cooking enthusiast looking to make the next step in your career, we want to hear from you.

Shift pattern is generally 9.00am - 5.00pm Mon-Fri, but expected to work all matchdays, which may include Bank Holidays (Saturdays) and occasional evening events.

This role will require a full driving license.

Core responsibilities:

• Working with our Head Chef and the team to provide support and help deliver FGR Food across our platforms including the stadium, concourse, Fan Zone and Eco Canteen.


• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all areas of the kitchen.


• Assisting with meal preparation, including chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients and assembling dishes.


• Offering general support to the Catering Team during busy periods.


• Work on Matchdays within the Catering Team, primarily based in the hospitality kitchen but scope to expand and learn other areas.

As a valued member of our team, you will be focused on achieving great results and creating the best experience for our visitors and supporters.

Essential skills:

• Previous experience in a catering/restaurant environment or a catering qualification.


• A full driving license is required.


• Basic knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards would be ideal.


• Available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays, to cover Matchday fixtures and events.


• Have good communication skills and be able to work within the small FGR Team.


• Work off your own initiative, be creative and think outside the box.


• Passion for supporting a culture that demonstrates the club's commitment to sustainability, equality, diversity, and inclusion.


• Culinary qualification (NVQ Level 1 or 2) is a plus but not essential.

Other considerations...

• This role is subject to a background check and DBS check, prior to employment commencing.


• A high degree of flexibility is needed to work around the busy football calendar.
