Job summary

Forest Green Rovers is seeking a dedicated Commis Chef to support the catering team across the stadium, concourse, Fan Zone and Eco Canteen.

You will work with the Head Chef in a fast-paced environment, gaining experience in catering, with opportunities to learn on matchdays and events. A full driving licence is required to fulfil duties around the venue.

Qualifications

• Catering/restaurant experience or a catering qualification.
• Full driving licence is required.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Able to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Proactive, creative and able to use own initiative.
• Passion for sustainability and inclusion.
• NVQ Level 1/2 in Catering is a plus.

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen areas.
• Assist with meal preparation: chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients and assembling dishes.
• Provide general support to Catering Team during busy periods.
• Work on matchdays in hospitality kitchen and possibly other areas.

Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join the Forest Green Rovers Catering Team.

This position is perfect for individuals looking to develop their culinary skills in a fast-paced setting, whether in catering, restaurants or other sectors. Whether you are a seasoned catering professional or a cooking enthusiast looking to make the next step in your career, we want to hear from you.

Shift pattern is generally 9.00am - 5.00pm Mon-Fri, but expected to work all matchdays, which may include Bank Holidays (Saturdays) and occasional evening events. This role will require a full driving license.

Core Responsibilities

• Working with our Head Chef and the team to provide support and help deliver FGR Food across our platforms including the stadium, concourse, Fan Zone and Eco Canteen.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of all areas of the kitchen.
• Assisting with meal preparation, including chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients and assembling dishes.
• Offering general support to the Catering Team during busy periods.
• Work on Matchdays within the Catering Team, primarily based in the hospitality kitchen but scope to expand and learn other areas.

About You

Essential Skills

• Previous experience in a catering/restaurant environment or a catering qualification.
• A full driving license is required.
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards would be ideal.
• Available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays, to cover Matchday fixtures and events.
• Have good communication skills and be able to work within the small FGR Team.
• Work off your own initiative, be creative and think outside the box.
• Passion for supporting a culture that demonstrates the club’s commitment to sustainability, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
• Culinary qualification (NVQ Level 1 or 2) is a plus but not essential.

Other Considerations

• This role is subject to a background check and DBS check, prior to employment commencing.
• A high degree of flexibility is needed to work around the busy football calendar.
