Job summary

Hastings Hotels is seeking a reliable Commis Chef for the Stormont Hotel in Belfast. This casual role pays £9.55–£12.75 per hour, with staff meals and employee discounts. You will join a friendly kitchen team and have opportunities for progression.

Under the Executive Head Chef, you will assist other chefs, ensure high standards of preparation and presentation, keep the kitchen clean, and follow health and safety rules. Applicants must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

Qualifications

GCSEs including English and Maths required.
Right to work in United Kingdom required.
Experience in a professional kitchen preferred.

Responsibilities

To assist other chefs in the kitchen area.
To provide high standards of preparation and presentation for guests.
To keep kitchen areas clean and tidy.
To ensure equipment and materials are used correctly and reported if issues.
To work with colleagues to maintain a respectful, harmonious environment.
To secure stock areas and report breaches.
To comply with health, safety, hygiene and licensing policies.
To handle guest dissatisfactions promptly and report to supervisor on duty.
Any other duties as required by management.

The rate of pay for this casual position is £9.55 to £12.75 per hour, depending on your age.

About the role

To assist other chefs in the kitchen area.
To provide the highest standards of preparation and presentation for guests and to ensure expectations are met.
To ensure that the kitchen areas are maintained in a clean and tidy manner in accordance with departmental standards.
To ensure all equipment and materials are used in correct manner and any problems are reported immediately.
To work effectively with colleagues to ensure a harmonious working environment where all employees are treated with respect and dignity.
To maintain the security of stock areas at all times, immediately reporting any breaches.
To comply with all health, safety, hygiene and licensing policies and procedures.
To ensure that guest dissatisfactions are dealt with efficiently, reporting them to the Supervisor/Manager on duty.
Any other duties as required by Management
