Job summary

Hastings Hotels, a family-owned luxury hotel group in Northern Ireland, seeks an Assistant Restaurant Manager for the Grand Central Hotel. You will help lead the Food & Beverage team to deliver 5-star service and manage day-to-day restaurant operations.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for leading the restaurant in the absence of the Restaurant Manager and ensure smooth operation.
• Promote a harmonious, respectful working environment for all staff.
• Ensure quality standards and procedures are understood, implemented and reviewed.
• Handle cash, stock control and ordering in line with company policies.
• Provide training, coaching and development to the restaurant team.
• Ensure the team are knowledgeable about hotel facilities and services.
• Assist guests with hotel services and respond to requests.
• Address and resolve guest complaints with appropriate solutions.
• Maintain effective communication with other hotel departments and suppliers.
• Ensure restaurant fixtures and equipment are well maintained and secure.
• Maintain safety, hygiene and compliance with health and licensing regulations.
• Seek knowledge of industry trends and competitor activity for continuous improvement.
• Assist with recruitment and utilisation of staff to match business peaks.
• Contribute to hotel business planning and strategic initiatives.
• Respect all policies around licensing, tax and regulatory compliance.
• Perform any other duties as required by management

Under the inspiring leadership of our General Manager, Jake McHugh, you will assist in providing leadership to our Food and Beverageteam, ensuring the smooth day-to-day management of our busy restaurant. We want to help you to develop your skills and offer an extensive range of learning and development opportunities.

The successful candidate will have worked in a busy restaurant environment and be able to lead, motivate and support team members to achieve success. You can expect to work 35 hours per week (excluding breaks), five shifts out seven including weekends. As Assistant Restaurant Manageryou will have a fully flexible approach as working patterns will include days, evenings and weekends as required.

The salary for this full-time position is £27,250 per annum.

About the role

To assist with the management of the Observatory for the greatest enjoyment of the guests and maximum profit contribution to the hotel.

• 1.To take responsibility for the effective leadership of the restaurant employees in the absence of the Restaurant Manager, to ensure the efficient operation of the Restaurant and the delivery of Hastings product and service standards.
• 2.To promote and contribute to a harmonious working environment where all staff are treated with respect and dignity.
• 3.To ensure quality standards and procedures are fully understood, implemented and regularly reviewed, and that formal and informal feedback is used to ensure continual improvement.
• 4To ensure company policies relating to cash handling, stock control and stock ordering are implemented and monitored, taking appropriate action to resolve problems.
• 5.To ensure all restaurant employees receive appropriate training, coaching and development to provide effective and efficient service in line with Hastings standards.
• 6.To ensure the team are knowledgeable about the facilities and services within the hotel and are proactive in the sale of these to guests.
• 7.To ensure you and the team respond assist guests with any reasonable request for hotels services.
• 8.To ensure you and the team respond to complaints and find the appropriate solution.
• 9.To maintain effective communication and relationships with other hotel departments, suppliers and agencies to maintain an effective operation and ensure guest satisfaction.
• 10. To ensure the restaurant area, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained and presented to Hastings standards.
• 11.To ensure the security of restaurant and storage areas is maintained at all times.
• 12.To ensure a safe environment is maintained in compliance with health, safety, fire, hygiene and security legislation and company policies and procedures.
• 13.To seek and continuously develop knowledge relating to the industry sector and competitor activity, to provide input into future plans and activities, and so maintain and enhance market position.
• 14.To assist with the recruitment, selection and utilisation of restaurant employees to achieve the optimum use of employee resource in line with business peaks and troughs.
• 15.To contribute to the development of the hotel business plan, projects and initiatives to continually develop the hotel business and market position.
• 16.To ensure the hotel's compliance with all matters relating to licensing laws, Customs and Excise Regulations and all other relevant legislation.
• 17.Any other duties as required by management
