Johnson Controls in the UK is seeking a motivated Commercial Refrigeration Engineer to support industrial refrigeration projects, maintenance and service. You will work on ammonia, CO₂ and HFC systems, with structured on‑the‑job training and development alongside senior engineers for large facilities.

The role offers hands‑on experience across a range of refrigerants, with the chance to progress into an Industrial Refrigeration Engineer role as you gain expertise.

Qualifications

• F-GAS 2079 card held; CO₂/A2L knowledge is advantageous.
• Completed refrigeration apprenticeship.
• Recognised refrigeration qualification (C&G etc.).
• Experience with commercial refrigeration systems.
• Ability to read electrical/ fluid diagrams and related drawings.
• Full UK driving license required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve commercial refrigeration systems on site.
• Work with experienced engineers and develop industrial knowledge.
• Provide service and maintenance within defined processes.
• Mobile position; Monday–Friday with standby rotation.

We are the OEM for SABROE, Frick Compressors & York products with trained engineers located nationally providing project solutions along with planned, preventative & reactive works to our target markets being meat, poultry, food manufacturing, beverage, cold storage, general manufacturing, leisure, pharmaceutical & automotive. Our portfolio of equipment includes commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. How You Will Do It

As the direct contact with the client for site technical service and maintenance issues, you will be initially responsible for troubleshooting and resolving commercial refrigeration systems within a set timeframe and according to a defined process, service agreement and customer needs. In addition you will work alongside experienced industrial refrigeration engineers and develop knowledge in industrial systems to provide service and maintenance. This is a mobile position, Monday - Friday with stand by 1 in 5. Health and Safety will be at the forefront of everything you do. Although often working without accompaniment you will be part of a team and contribute towards its success.

What We Look For

• You will have an F-GAS 2079 card. CO₂, A2L, HC an advantage.
• Ideally served a refrigeration apprenticeship.
• Ideally hold a recognised refrigeration qualification; C&G etc.
• Experience in working with a variety of commercial refrigeration systems.
• Understands and analyses relevant technical documents such as electrical schemes, fluid schemes, piping diagrams, psychometric diagrams, etc.
• Full UK driving license
• Capable of working without documented procedures and with limited supervision.
• A proactive mindset to provide the highest level of service to our customers.
