Job summary

Wates Group is seeking a proactive Site Surveyor to drive commercial success across projects. You will own subcontract packages, push financial performance and play a key role in client relationships and team development.

With responsibilities spanning forecasting, cost reporting and value improvements, you’ll lead final accounts, support procurement and ensure safety standards on site. DBS checks apply at offer stage.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of construction, contracts & procurement.
• Skilled in measurement, valuation & cost reporting.
• Knowledge of claims, loss & expense.
• Commercially focused with strong analytical ability.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate forecasting & cost analysis to maximise margin.
• Manage subcontractor packages, cash flow, and value recovery.
• Produce final accounts, claims, and contract records.
• Lead quarterly final accounts and review contract performance.
• Support procurement (tenders, reconciliations, subcontract orders).
• Manage and mentor AQSs, ensuring performance targets are met.
• Conduct weekly 1-2-1s and support ongoing development.
• Promote and ensure SHE compliance across projects.
• Attend site regularly and complete monthly reports.
• Review subcontractor safety before payment approval.
• Build strong relationships with clients & consultants.
• Attend weekly and monthly meetings (debt, voids, contract reviews).
• Understand client priorities and enhance service delivery.
• Assist with complex quoting & invoicing (including social housing).
• Identify risks, opportunities, and value improvements.
