The Role
ALS Environmental in Coventry is seeking a Project Manager to join its Field Services team, acting as the main liaison with key clients to manage environmental sampling and analysis activities in line with contracts. The role involves scheduling and monitoring fieldwork, aligning staffing resources, ensuring compliance with UKAS accreditation, maintaining accurate site documentation, and contributing to performance tracking through KPIs and audits. The Project Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams, support invoicing and reporting, and may occasionally perform sampling to stay aligned with field operations.

Please Note: Due to the nature of some of the work undertaken by Field Services there may be a requirement that satisfactory security clearance is obtained in order to be able to carry out this role

Hours Per Week: 37
Days Per Week: Monday to Friday (plus weekend / Bank Holiday standby on rota basis where required)
Contract: Full Time & Permanent
Annual Salary: £29,694 per annum + company car or equivalent car allowance.

The day to day

  • Manage monthly and annual sampling plans, ensuring timely and accurate sample collection.
  • Allocate workloads and match tasks to technician skills, rescheduling missed events as needed.
  • Develop and maintain site info packs, including risk assessments, to support safe operations.
  • Liaise with clients, handle queries, and share performance updates through KPI reports.
  • Oversee procedure updates with the Quality team to maintain accreditation standards.
  • Support technician training through inductions, audits, and occasional sampling activity.

The Essentials

  • Strong organisational, communication, and data analysis skills, with attention to detail
  • Professional, positive, and calm under pressure, with the ability to work independently
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Proficient in IT systems and documentation management
  • Willing to travel within the UK; must hold a full clean UK driving licence
  • HNC/HND in a science subject, project management experience, and familiarity with health & safety or environmental monitoring is preferred
