Commercial Sales Manager/ Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

We are seeking a Commercial Sales Manager / Quantity Surveyor to join our rapidly growing Commercial Sales Team in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The role involves managing and optimizing the commercial aspects of contracts during sales and tendering phases, reporting to the Commercial Sales Lead, and working closely with other sales and contract management teams.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborating with sales and contract management teams.
  2. Assessing risks and opportunities from tender enquiry documents.
  3. Calculating rates and fees for tenders in accordance with contract terms.
  4. Preparing and presenting pricing documents for tenders.
  5. Engaging with customers, partners, subcontractors, and stakeholders to resolve commercial issues.
  6. Providing contractual advice and supporting negotiations.
  7. Producing commercial handover documentation for project delivery.
  8. Establishing subcontract engagement plans and managing subcontractor ITT processes.
  9. Producing tender reports for high-value subcontract packages.
  10. Collaborating with legal teams on contractual issues.
  11. Building positive relationships with clients and partners.
  12. Identifying process improvements and ensuring compliance with governance guidelines.
  13. Supporting with guarantees, bonds, and security instruments.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Experience in Quantity Surveying, Contract Management, or commercial project management.
  2. Knowledge of construction and engineering contracts, especially NEC, FIDIC, and MF/1.
  3. Experience in tendering processes and contract evaluation.
  4. Ability to establish budgets and identify risks and opportunities.
  5. Chartered status (RICS / CICES) is advantageous, with support for further training.
  6. Understanding of contract law and commercial principles.
  7. Team-oriented and committed to ongoing development.
