Full Job Description

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority who are recruiting for a Commercial & Procurement Lawyer to join their team on a locum basis, for 3 months initially with potential for extension.

The role offers remote working and a rate in the region of £50 p/hour UMB, subject to experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling contracts and procurement law within Local Government, and skills in managing high-value and complex agreements.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Providing legal advice on varied commercial contracts matters, initially focused on corporate/work
• Delivering successful outcomes on a wide range of projects, including major transformational development/regeneration works, construction, and creating trading companies and joint ventures
• Drafting and negotiating key agreements, including NDAs, IT agreements, NEC/JCT contracts, and funding agreements
• Reviewing a range of commercial contracts and providing extensive procurement advice to Council departments, officers, and employees
• Advising on procurement challenges, leading efforts to oppose them successfully, and defending aborted procurements
