Job Description

PPM Recruitment are currently looking for a Commercial Multi Skilled Gas Engineer. This is a static role working at Cardiff University. The position involves 12-hour shifts within a small maintenance team, following a rotation of 4 days, 4-off, 4 nights, 4 off, to manage both planned maintenance and reactive repairs of a commercial building.

Minimum qualifications required: L3 qualifications.

The role involves undertaking maintenance and repair of Gas, Plumbing, and Mechanical services, including fabric tasks of buildings as required under contract. Responsibilities include reactive tasks within SLA's, taking ownership of the buildings and sub-contractors.

Main duties:

  1. Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance and complete the appropriate paperwork and reports.
  2. Perform Reactive and emergency tasks, ensuring completion within allocated timescales.
  3. Use handheld technology efficiently.
  4. Assist team members or as directed by Contract Supervisor/Manager.
  5. Ensure all tasks are completed within contractual time scales.
  6. Supervise visiting sub-contractors regarding work standards and Health and Safety, issue permits, control small works, and escort duties as required.
  7. Maintain a flexible attitude to assist on other properties within the portfolio.
  8. Complete work in accordance with company policies and procedures, accurately and on time.
  9. Maintain excellent customer relations with onsite clients.

Health & Safety: Work safely, comply with policies and procedures, and participate in training and appraisal activities.

Additional duties: Undertake tasks as per capabilities and requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience in maintenance, testing, and fault finding on equipment such as boiler plant, ventilation, pumps, generators, switchgear, cables, batteries, small power, and lighting.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
  • Gas Safe Qualifications (COCN1, ICPN1, ICEA1, TPCP1, CIGA1, CORT1, CCN1, CEN1) – desirable.
  • Strong customer care focus and good communication skills.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to diagnose and repair faults.
  • Capable of completing paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Facilities maintenance experience and cleanroom experience are desirable.
