Job summary

A leading insurance group is seeking an experienced Commercial/Motor/Fleet Underwriter to manage underwriting processes and relationships in Darlington. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of motor experience and preferably hold a Cert CII. This role requires strong decision-making skills and organizational abilities to ensure compliance with business standards and objectives.

Job description

We are currently looking for an experienced Commercial/Motor/Fleet Underwriter to join our team. You will be responsible for underwriting and administering new business risks, renewals and mid-term adjustments.

What you will do as a Commercial/Motor/Fleet Underwriter:

  • To acquire and retain profitable target business in line with prescribed underwriting strategies and business plans.
  • To conduct all business activities in line with prescribed Group business standards, service standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • To achieve a high quality of underwriting in accordance with the business quality control requirements and framework
  • To develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with all key stakeholders; internal and external.
  • To support all underwriting colleagues as required.
  • To contribute positively and proactively to business development and change.

What we are looking for in our next Commercial/Motor/Fleet Underwriter:

  • 2 years Motor experience is essential.
  • Cert CII preferred.
  • Comprehensive underwriting knowledge and ability including specialist market and product knowledge would be an advantage.
  • A comprehensive level of specialist market and specialist product knowledge would be an advantage.
  • A working knowledge of the legal and regulatory insurance framework.
  • Exceptionally strong decision-making confidence and ability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with a focus on individual and business objectives, priorities and deliverables.
