Commercial Mid-Market Underwriter

Competitive Salary

We have a new opportunity within our Southampton Commercial Underwriting Team as a New Business Commercial Underwriter. This role involves partnering with brokers and customers to understand their needs, using data insights to provide comprehensive customer solutions.

Ideally, you'll be based within a commutable distance to Poole or Bournemouth, as you'll be managing a portfolio of brokers and customers in the area to proactively develop and grow a profitable commercial book of business.

About the job:

You will collaborate with our Southeast underwriting teams to support the Senior Underwriter and Team Manager in achieving financial goals. Strong organization and time management skills are essential, including the ability to manage your own diary in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Underwriting commercial new business with a proven track record
• Dealing effectively with insurance brokers and customers
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers through visits and market visibility
• Mentoring and developing team members
• Working towards underwriting license levels appropriate to your role

Skills and experience required:

• Experience in Property and Liability underwriting or Motor trade & Fleet
• Risk analysis and effective communication skills for broker and customer interactions
• Ability to collaborate within a large organization
• Knowledge of FCA regulations and relevant legislation
• Strong commercial insight to create and deliver business cases
