Job description

Commercial Manager (Senior Quantity Surveyor) sought, Plymouth. Build Maintain Recruit are pleased to once again support a progressive tier 1 contractor looking to further bolster their commercial team with the addition of a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager. You will be joining a settled yet progressive business overseeing an array of work out of their SW hub based in Plymouth.


Day to Day,

  1. Develop and implement cost-effective strategies to minimize project costs and maximize profitability.
  2. Manage cash flow for large MEP packages (MEP exposure if a nice to have, not essential), minimizing risks and ensuring timely payments.
  3. Compile and issue commercial reports to the project leadership team, providing valuable insights for informed decision-making.
  4. Prepare detailed forecasts and reports on financial status and cash flow, enabling data-driven decisions.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives, improving project profitability.

What you ll need to succeed,

  1. Proven experience in commercially managing M&E projects, with a strong focus on cost control and risk management.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of tender processes and ability to handle contracts and legal issues effectively.
  3. Expertise in M&E Quantity Surveying and construction costs, with a solid understanding of contract law and negotiation techniques and ideally NEC contract knowledge.
  4. Able to read and understand drawings, contracts, and specifications, with excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
