Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor

Summary

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our team on an exciting new project, based on site in Barrow.

In this role, you will manage the project commercial team and practices, advising senior management on the commercial risks and opportunities from tender to completion. You will also support the Commercial Director in preparing regional management accounts and contribute to contract reviews. This is a permanent position with NG Bailey, with the project running for approximately 2 years, with potential for further work on the site.

We are also open to considering candidates at Senior Quantity Surveyor level.

Please note that candidates must be able to obtain security clearance for this site; therefore, only British nationals can be considered.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring safety is prioritized in all activities.
  • Maintaining accurate project risk and opportunity schedules, identifying measures to protect the company and improve profitability.
  • Managing mitigation and enhancement implementation, reporting back to the business.
  • Leading the commercial team to maximize potential of both the team and individuals.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with customers, suppliers, and vendors, negotiating contract terms, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Attending contract reviews and ensuring accuracy of project costs and forecasts.
  • Assisting with business plans and management accounts, maintaining records to manage disputes.
  • Monitoring and managing project commercial performance.
  • Preparing the commercial plan with the project team, communicating obligations and risks.
  • Managing applications for payment and ensuring timely receipt.
  • Overseeing subcontract commercial aspects, including terms and conditions.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in the commercial performance of construction projects.
  • Experience with NEC contracts (preferred).
  • Experience managing a team.
