Role: Commercial Manager - Managing Quantity Surveyor
Location: North West - Hybrid, working from home and nearest office location, with travel
Salary : £75,000 - £80,000, plus car or car allowance

This is an opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join an organisation who is shaping the future of energy for generations to come.

Executive Network Group have been retained by a household name in the utilities industry, who are looking to appoint a Commercial Manager with a strong background in estimating, contract development and third-party relationship management.

Reporting to the Commercial Director for Hydrogen, this role will be responsible for; the development and implementation of commercial controls, delivering the business outcomes for the sector, in terms of commercial, financial, regulatory and compliance performance measures.

What you’ll get to work on:
  • Manage the relationship and commercial return in contracts with third-party providers.
  • Assess commercial policies to fully meet the requirements of the customers and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with Legislation and Company safety and engineering policies and procedures and ensure that adequate records are recorded and retained
  • Work proactively to minimise safety, operational and reputational risk to the company and brand
  • Lead change projects within the Commercial process and ensure change projects meet wider
  • Objectives of the business and are appropriately supported
  • Work closely with the operational Networks, Engineering, Energy Operations and Capital Delivery Teams to enhance Customer Experience across the End-to-End journey
  • Support the management of the Commercial financial budget
  • Work with Technology teams, ensuring that the technology platform meets the requirements for efficient operation of the business in relation to their specific sector requirements and enables world class customer service provision
  • Identify and implement future opportunities for process and performance improvement
  • Drive commercial value and delivering cost savings
  • Business continuity management

Who are we looking for:
  • Educated to a degree standard or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience in leading and developing commercial teams, providing commercial control over large construction projects
  • Strong capex, development expenditure and cost estimation skills. Experience with design consent orders and preparing for construction
  • A flexible approach to work, someone who is dynamic and agile
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment and key business drivers
  • Experience of managing different forms of contracts/framework agreements, developing legal documentation to address project delivery solutions
  • Experience of working collaboratively with stakeholders to identify commercial opportunities across the value stream and influencing and negotiating in order to drive commercial savings
  • Knowledge of the procurement process and engagement of strategic suppliers
  • Ability to think strategically to identify opportunities, sequentially prioritise them and deliver results through your team
  • Ability to manage risk, understand in-depth financial information and have commercial acumen that can be used to make meaningful insights to drive business growth
  • Your background could be from client side, contractor or consultancy
