Job Title: Commercial Manager (HVDC Transmission)

Location: United Kingdom (Remote)

The Green Recruitment Company is seeking a Commercial Manager (HVDC Transmission) to serve as the main point of contact within the transmission team.

Company Overview:

Our aim is to strengthen our commercial efforts in designing, advancing, and procuring HVDC infrastructure, including cable and converter systems connecting the UK to Morocco, along with related operations.

The role covers all aspects of HVDC projects and broader initiatives, including assistance with PMO functions, stakeholder engagement, survey permits, contract management, and support for our Planning Application. Stakeholders include government bodies, the National Grid, and local communities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with project team members, focusing on procurement activities.
• Interact with consultants, contractors, and service providers.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders such as government entities, regulators, the National Grid, and landowners.
• Coordinate with the external supply chain, especially during the construction phase.
• Manage contracts, including negotiation of construction (preferably EPC) contracts, and oversee the supply chain, legal terms, and incentives.
• Conduct cost and risk analyses, evaluate programmes, monitor costs, and handle claims and variations.
• Prepare reports and present findings to senior leadership.
• Lead commercial and contract readiness for major EPC contracts during the construction phase, including strategy, procurement, and negotiation.
• Work closely with procurement and project managers.
• Develop commercial processes to manage interfaces between EPC contracts and facilitate project closure.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across all project phases.
• Support HVDC programme activities, including risk management, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
• Assist in procurement and contract management during the development phase.

Required Experience:

• Experience with HVDC transmission systems, including:
• Cable systems – marine surveys, permitting, route design, drilling, onshore construction, cable laying, and protection.
• Converter systems – procurement support, technical requirements, civil works, operations, safety, and security.
• Project Management Company (PMC) coordination, including risk, budget, schedule, and stakeholder engagement.
• Planning consents, land permits, detailed design, construction methodologies, and logistics.
