Commercial Manager

Location: West Yorkshire
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Pacakge: Circa. GBP72,000 DOE + GBP7,500 car allowance

JS Recruitment are delighted to be working in partnership with a prestigious client in the construction sector who are seeking a high-calibre Commercial Manager. This is a senior leadership role, ideal for a commercially astute individual with a proven track record in overseeing complex construction projects from a financial and contractual standpoint.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Construction Director and oversee a small commercial team. You ll play a key role in ensuring the profitability and commercial viability of projects, safeguarding against risk, and ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Management

• Oversee project budgets, monitor cash flow, and ensure financial targets are achieved
• Manage all commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to completion

Cost Control & Reporting

• Identify cost-saving opportunities, support profit planning, and lead commercial adjudications
• Prepare and deliver accurate commercial reports and financial analysis to senior stakeholders

Risk & Compliance

• Identify and manage commercial risks, ensuring full compliance with legal and contractual requirements

Contract & Client Management

• Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, resolving any commercial queries

Business Development

• Contribute to tender submissions, bids and the pursuit of new project opportunities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead and support a team of commercial professionals including quantity surveyors and estimators
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement

Skills & Qualifications:

• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field (preferred)
• At least 15 years experience in the construction industry, including experience in a senior commercial position
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyse complex data and make informed decisions
• Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills
• In-depth understanding of construction contracts, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Proven ability to lead teams and deliver commercially successful outcomes
