Job description

Job Title: Commercial Manager

A Glasgow-based graphics company is seeking a versatile and experienced Commercial Manager to oversee procurement and financial activities.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Commercial Management, with responsibilities including sales liaison, finance and accounts, estimating, material purchasing, and supplier outsourcing. You will lead and develop a team to ensure sound estimating propositions and buying decisions, maintaining a range of approved suppliers that deliver quality and continuity, including managing supplier service agreements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Commercial Activities:
  2. Create new commercial relationships
  3. Conduct project meetings, site surveys, and supervise site installations
  4. Attend project meetings with architects, designers, and construction professionals
  5. Liaise with production and suppliers to manage workflow and quality
  6. Understand project capabilities and communicate effectively to clients for commercial advantage
  7. Manage estimating functions
  8. Oversee sales, administration, and production teams
  9. Material purchasing and supplier outsourcing

Additional duties include:

  1. Preparing full monthly management accounts and year-end reports, including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, and KPI analysis
  2. Producing monthly and annual budgets and forecasts
  3. Contract and costing accounting
  4. In-depth variance analysis, including labor, overhead, costing, and pricing
  5. Bank reconciliations
  6. Managing monthly payrolls
  7. Preparing quarterly VAT returns, liaising with HMRC, and ensuring timely payments
Candidate Profile:
  • Experience as a Senior Commercial or Finance Manager
  • Confident in management meetings and decision-making
  • Highly numerate with strong spreadsheet skills
  • Results-driven with high accuracy
  • Comprehensive accounts experience in a similar role
  • Proficient in IT, Sage Line 50 Payroll, and Accounting
  • Initiative, self-reliance, and sound judgment
  • Analytical mindset and team leadership skills
