We're looking for a Commercial Manager to join our construction business in Manchester.

Location

Salford, North West.

Hours

40 hours per week

What will you be responsible for?

As Commercial Manager, you will lead the commercial team within our Manchester business unit, driving the commercial performance of contracts through effective management of quantity surveying staff, understanding of contract conditions, and risk management strategies.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Producing and consolidating high-level cost and expenditure reports across projects.
  • Overseeing monthly valuation processes, verifying and collating information provided by the commercial teams.
  • Managing financial contingencies in projects, ensuring allowances reflect current project status.
  • Reviewing contractor and supplier claims, adjudicating disputes, and recommending settlements.
  • Finalizing contractor accounts and closing out project contracts.
  • Allocating commercial resources across the region to ensure adequate coverage for tenders and projects.
  • Managing commercial teams to ensure unified strategies and standards.
  • Serving as an escalation point for Managing Quantity Surveyors when necessary.
  • Identifying and addressing commercial resource needs, balancing staff costs with budgets.
What are we looking for?

This role is ideal if you:

  • Have a formal qualification such as RICS, Degree, or equivalent in Quantity Surveying.
  • Have experience in a senior commercial role within a Tier 1 main contracting environment.
  • Have managed large teams.
  • Possess strong contractual knowledge of NEC, JCT, arbitration, and adjudication processes.
  • Are skilled in commercial reporting, capable of producing accurate board-level reports outlining risks and opportunities.
  • Have experience developing and implementing commercial strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
