Job description

As Commercial Manager at AllPoints Fibre Networks, you will be responsible for managing the gross margin of at least one of APFN’s core products (FTTP, Ethernet, SOGEA) as well as value-added services. This involves ownership of:

  • Pricing and promotions across our partners and partner tiers
  • The relationship with one or more of APFN’s network providers

You will understand the products and propositions built by our Product Team and leverage input pricing from our suppliers. As the owner of product gross margin, you will generate business cases for APFN’s products, collaborating with the Products & Proposition and Sales teams.

You will work closely with our Sales, Service, Marketing, Data, Networks, Finance, and Procurement teams to create and monitor market-leading commercial propositions.

APFN is a young organization; therefore, continuous improvement and good governance in commercial processes and tools are fundamental to your role.

*Defined as revenue net of discounts less direct connectivity costs

What you will be doing:
  • Commercial Propositions: Create, maintain, and monitor commercial propositions for the wholesale partner base, adapting to regulatory changes and market evolution. Drive sustainable profitable growth through innovative commercials.
  • Maximisation of gross margin: Work with Procurement and Commercial teams to ensure the best connectivity costs.
  • Commercial contracts: Collaborate with product and account managers to create, maintain, and monitor partner contracts, ensuring risk mitigation and regulatory compliance. Manage change control notes with Legal for commercial adjustments.
  • Pricing: Develop and maintain commercial pricing with Pricing Managers, ensuring alignment with Finance for accurate cost bases and with Networks for network development costs.
  • Business cases: Support Product Managers in assessing new product development, market pricing, profitability, and financial targets.
  • In-life management: Ensure revenue and cost assurance actions are taken in collaboration with suppliers and Procurement.
  • Network and infrastructure suppliers: Work with Networks to ensure commercial strategies are aligned with network negotiations.
  • Market Insights: Maintain a deep understanding of the UK wholesale telecom market, including competitors, industry trends, and regulations.
  • Governance: Ensure all commercial propositions follow proper governance and change controls.
  • Strategic thinking: Develop profitable, structured commercial propositions reflecting APFN’s USPs.
About you:

You will possess strong financial and commercial acumen with practical experience. Excellent communication skills will enable you to articulate effectively to both financial and non-financial colleagues. Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint is essential for developing financial tools, cost models, and supporting business assessments.
