Job description

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead and manage all commercial aspects of divisional performance. You’ll support the Operational Director, Commercial Director, and Senior Commercial Manager in delivering budgets, managing profit and loss, and ensuring robust financial and operational reporting. You will guide and develop commercial teams, uphold SHEQ standards, and drive consistent application of company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all commercial functions, financial reporting, and margin delivery.
  • Collaborate on bids, ensuring risk is mitigated and profit targets are achievable.
  • Ensure accurate cashflow forecasts, invoicing, and collections.
  • Lead subcontract and main contract negotiations, ensuring compliance with procedures.
  • Manage procurement strategy and ensure value is maximised across projects.
  • Report divisional financials and risks transparently to the board.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain.
  • Lead and support your team’s development through coaching, performance reviews, and resource planning.
  • Handle disputes, claims, and legal compliance as needed.
  • Represent the company at client and industry events, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Established background in commercial roles, preferably in gas pipelines or heavy civils.
  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or related field.
  • Professional membership (e.g., RICS).
  • Strong legal/contractual and financial acumen.
  • Proven leadership and bid management experience.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and data analysis skills.
  • Valid driving licence and appropriate CSCS card.
