A well-established, privately-owned main contractor is seeking a Commercial Manager to join its growing North East regional team based in Durham.
With recent success securing places on the Department for Education (DfE) frameworks, alongside a strong pipeline of projects in housing schemes, high-rise residential developments, and industrial units, this is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping and driving the commercial function for the region.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will guide the commercial strategy, mentor the existing team, and help build the North East division into a market leader. For the right individual, there is a genuine opportunity to progress into a Commercial Director role for the region.
Lead the commercial function across a diverse portfolio of projects including education, housing, high-rise apartments, and industrial sheds.
Take a hands-on approach, working closely with project teams to ensure commercial success.
Build and strengthen the commercial team, mentoring and developing existing staff.
Provide robust commercial guidance to ensure projects are delivered on budget and to the highest standards.
Work closely with senior leadership, with a clear progression path to Commercial Director for the North East region.
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor working for a Main Contractor.
Familiarity with JCT/NEC forms of contract.
Knowledge of current Construction Law.
Strong track record in commercial management.
Experience in procurement of subcontractors, measurement and control cycles, certificates and accruals calculations.
Good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis.
Ability to work in a team environment, contributing across the business unit.
Strong management skills with the ability to mentor and lead.
Self-motivated and able to inspire colleagues to achieve high standards of compliance.
Good operational planning and time management skills.
Salary: 85,000 - 100,000 (depends on experience) + generous package and perks.
