Nicholas Associates are seeking a Commercial Manager for their North West groundworks and civil engineering division. You will lead the commercial team across multiple projects, oversee budgets and profit targets, and manage client contracts, variations, and final accounts.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering groundworks as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager/Director.

Our client is a groundworks and civil engineering contractor based in the North West, they are a stable, profitable, have a residential developer client base which is predominantly repeat business and are set to increase their turnover in 2027. They're looking for a Commercial Manager.

As Commercial Manager, your main responsibilities are as follows:

• Lead and manage the commercial team (Quantity Surveyors, Assistants, and Administrators) across multiple projects.
• Oversee all commercial and financial reporting, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and profit targets.
• Manage client relationships, including negotiation and agreement of contracts, variations, and final accounts.
• Support the Director with business development, client relationships, and recruitment of key personnel
• To lead the commercial team in maximising the commercial performance of the business
• To ensure that the strategy, policy, culture and standards established by the business leadership team are effectively deployed within the commercial team.
• Control costs and effectively manage budgets
• Manage and support projects on commercial and supplier contracting aspects of projects across the business
• Support the in work winning
• Manage operational efficiency, continuously identify areas for business improvement
• Manage relationships with key external and internal stakeholders

Person Specification:

• Experienced in the delivery of groundworks as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager / Director
• The role suits an individual with a proven track record in successfully leading a target driven commercial team within the groundworks or house building industry.
• Exceptional negotiation, leadership and communication skills are required
• Excellent commercial acumen and strong financial and business skills are essential for this role.
