Supporting our Project Directors and Project Managers with commercial leadership in implementing effective project control to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget to the client's satisfaction in a manner that maximises opportunities and revenue.

In our commercial function our job is clear: "To help our teams manage the risks and realise the opportunities in bidding, winning and delivering great projects." This is underpinned by the following:

1. Providing leadership in Commercial matters; directly with clients, making business easy and WSP easy to do business with.
2. Developing Commercial best practice, process and resources in support of WSP's strategy.
3. Demonstrating the value from the Commercial Role.
4. Focussing and action on strategic themes of governance, risk and opportunity with all stakeholders.
5. Providing dispute resolution support to the business.

A little more about your role...

• Provision of commercial expertise in support of transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Participate in raising the commercial awareness and performance within the business.
• Assist with Pre-Contract Activities including:

1. Work package contracts are tracked from receipt of a service request through to contract award (and on to final account).
2. Submission of service proposals have passed through the business governance process.
3. Work package contracts have been reviewed by both joint venture partners before being offered for execution.
4. Fully executed work package contracts have been received from the client.

Assist with Change Management (programme and value) in full compliance with the contractual and business obligations by ensuring:

1. Timely issue of all relevant notices.
2. Generation and maintenance of registers and reports.
3. Review of client communications.
4. Timely issue of robust responses.

Provide Contractual Support to the project teams to ensure:

1. Compliance with contractual obligations.
2. Minimised risk exposure.
3. Preservation of contractual entitlements.

Be an active member of the WSP Commercial and operations team, contributing to decision making and identifying business improvement opportunities; and contributing to the development of an enhanced commercial culture in the business.

Skills:

Proven ability and track record in the majority of the following:

• Proven track record of the commercial delivery of multi-disciplinary design projects.
• Experience of successful delivery within design and build contracts.
• Specific experience of operating within joint ventures.
• Management of the Project Cost Report including VOWD and Forecast at Completion.
• Change management - expertise across the main industry forms including NEC 3 and 4.
• Strong Project management, organisational and investigative skills; Ability to simplify complex concepts.
• Drafting of contractual correspondence.
• Chairing regular commercial meetings with key delivery contractors.
• Earned Value analysis i.e. planned vs. achieved vs. expended.
• Pro-active engagement in risk identification, evaluation and mitigation activity.
• Proven capability of working in a collaborative environment with a strong teamwork ethos.
• Strong drive with sound judgement. Quickly establishes credibility and sphere of influence.

What we are looking for you to demonstrate...

• A relevant Degree and/or Membership of a relevant professional body is preferable.
• Preferably experience within a similar role.
• A working knowledge of standard forms of contract particularly NEC.
• Good Commercial awareness.
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
